The Ultimate Wash Day Routine for Your Luxury Bundles

The Ultimate Wash Day Routine for Your Luxury Bundles

Washing your luxury extensions isn't just a chore - it's a ritual that determines how long your investment lasts. Unlike your natural hair, extensions don't receive nutrients from your scalp, so proper hydration and gentle handling are absolutely essential.

Step 1: The Pre-Wash Detangle

Never, ever wash tangled hair. This is the number one mistake that ruins extensions. Before water touches your bundles, take 5-10 minutes to gently detangle using a wide-tooth comb or a specialized wet brush.

Pro Tip: Start from the Ends

Always detangle from the ends first, working your way up to the weft. This prevents the knots from stacking and becoming impossible to remove.

Step 2: The Hydration Bath

Fill a basin or large bowl with lukewarm water (not hot!) and mix in a generous amount of sulfate-free, moisturizing shampoo. Submerge your bundles gently and let them soak for 2-3 minutes.

No Bunching or Scrubbing

Do NOT scrub or "bunch" your hair like you would your natural scalp. This creates friction which leads to tangling and matting. Instead, gently stroke the shampoo through the hair in a downward motion.

Step 3: The Rinse & Condition

Rinse thoroughly with cool water until all shampoo residue is gone. Then apply a deep conditioning mask (we recommend Silicon Mix or Aphogee) from mid-shaft to ends. Avoid the weft area to prevent loosening.

Leave the conditioner on for 15-30 minutes. For extra penetration, cover with a plastic cap and apply gentle heat from a hooded dryer or steamer.

Step 4: The Gentle Dry

After rinsing out the conditioner, gently squeeze (don't wring!) excess water from your bundles. Wrap them in a microfiber towel or an old t-shirt - regular terry cloth towels cause friction and frizz.

Allow your bundles to air dry on a wig head or mannequin. If you must use heat, set your blow dryer to the lowest heat, lowest speed setting and use a diffuser attachment.

Step 5: The Seal & Store

Once completely dry, apply a lightweight serum or oil (argan oil, jojoba) to the ends to seal in moisture and prevent dryness. Store your bundles in a silk or satin bag away from direct sunlight.
